The death toll from a deadly landslide in the Philippines has risen to 58.

Search and rescue teams continue to dig up more bodies in villages that were crushed by rain-induced avalanches.

But there are fears the actual number of deaths may be higher.

It’s understood that more than 17,000 people have fled their homes since the disaster engulfed the nation.

The storm comes four months after super-typhoon Rye devastated the archipelago nation, where it left more than 400 dead.

The Philippines is ranked among one of the world’s most vulnerable nations to climate change. It is reportedly hit by an average of 20 storms every year.
