Naomi Osaka says she is warding off any negativity as she prepares to take to the clay for her next Grand Slam

The 24-year-old is recovering from an incident during her loss at last month’s Indian Wells Tournament, in which a fan said “you suck”.

The four-time Grand Slam champion was then seen wiping away her tears shortly afterwards.

Osaka has been open about her mental health struggles, and says she speaks with her therapist at least once a week.

“I’m trying to take it one tournament at a time,” she says.

The Former World Number One is currently ranked 36th, after taking a break from the sport.

But she says she changed “a couple of things” to better suit her game for the clay court surface.

She is also sticking away from social media platform, Twitter, because of negative online comments.

Osaka was fined for refusing to speak to the media at the 2021 French Open, citing mental health concerns.
