Federal agents initiated multiple immigration enforcement actions in New York City on Tuesday, displaying a visible and publicised show of force led by President Trump’s newly appointed Homeland Security secretary, Kristi Noem.
Ms. Noem, who oversees the federal agency responsible for managing the nation’s immigration system, embarked on a trip to the city and shared a video on X, claiming it depicted the apprehension of an unauthorised immigrant who was also facing charges of kidnapping, assault, and burglary.
The video, which appeared to have been captured before dawn, shows two federal officers escorting a man in handcuffs to an SUV equipped with flashing lights, as they stand outside an apartment building in the Bronx.
