Netflix goes live, announces Chris Rock will host a special in 2022
Well it looks like Netflix is set to go live, with the streaming giant announcing a Chris Rock special event.
Rock will front up a comedy show which will livestream globally in early 2023.
“Chris Rock is one of the most iconic and important comedic voices of our generation,” said Netflix.
“We’re thrilled the entire world will be able to experience a live Chris Rock comedy event and be a part of Netflix history. This will be an unforgettable moment and we’re so honored that Chris is carrying this torch.”
Exact details remain unknown at this stage, but this will be Rock’s seventh stand up special.
It’s a big move for Netflix and will be the first significant test of live streaming, potentially paving the way for a number of its other programs to get a similar treatment.
The streaming giant has previously suggested it could incorporate live streaming into some of its other unscripted content. As an example, this may give fans the opportunity to vote live on who should be voted off a show.
