More baby formula headed to the U.S. from Europe amid shortage

Published

on

President Biden has announced new shipments of baby formula from Europe.

It comes as the President prepares to meet with top officials from five baby food companies amid an ongoing shortage.

The participants at the meeting include top executives from Gerber, Perrigo Co., Reckitt, Bubs Australia and ByHeart, the official said.

Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra and Surgeon General Vivek Murthy are also expected to join the meeting.

Parents in the US have been left desperately searching for ways to feed their infants.

The White House says enough Kendamil formula to make about four million bottles will be flown to locations across the United States during the next three weeks.

“This first shipment, which includes Kendamil Classic and Kendamil Organic formula, will be available at Target stores across the country in the coming weeks,” the statement said.

Double the amount

Wednesday’s announcement is set to more than double that amount, officials said.

The United Airlines flights will include enough baby formula powder to make about 3.2 million eight-ounce-bottle equivalents of Kendamil Classic Stage 1 and 540,000 eight-ounce-bottle equivalents of Kendamil Organic. Officials said the flights will begin on June 9 and will continue for three weeks.

The move comes just days after the F.D.A. relaxed import regulations to allow Kendal Nutricare, the manufacturer of the formula, to import formula into the United States under the Kendamil brand.

Australia’s multimillion-dollar campaign to attract Hollywood productions to its shores appears to be paying off.

The allure of Australia lies not only in its picturesque locations but also in its competitive financial incentives.

The government offers generous rebates and tax breaks to international productions, making it an attractive proposition for filmmakers looking to maximise their budgets.

Despite the recent intake of Hollywood productions down under such as ‘The Fall Guy’ and ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’, Aussie independents are still finding the space to carve their own creative path.

Rob Fantozzi joined the program to discuss the latest in Hollywood, and showcased his own upcoming project – ‘Omerta‘. #featured

American home prices are rising at faster pace now than in the last 20-years.

A recent analysis reveals a jaw dropping surge in the cost of American homes.

Since the start of 2020, U.S. home prices have surged 47% easily outstripping the gains seen in recent decades.

On top of that, home price growth so far this decade is on the verge of surpassing all the growth seen in the 2000s.

Many experts believe this decade’s housing market frenzy was ignited by a perfect storm — the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic triggering an unprecedented rush among buyers.

Tom Hutchens, the Executive Vice President of Production at Angel Oak Mortgage Solutions joins Veronica Dudo to discuss.
