Microsoft has missed the mark, falling short of its quarterly revenue estimates

A stronger dollar is slowing sales of PCs and resulting in lower advertisement spending.

Shares in the tech giant fell around one per cent in after hours trading, contributing to an overall decline of 25 per cent this year.

Microsoft’s Azure cloud service grew by 40 per cent, compared with estimates of just over 43 per cent.

Advertising revenue fell from LinkedIn, Search and News.

Competition in the sector is also heating up, as more businesses seek to move computing and data storage to the cloud.
