Manchester City fans assault Aston Villa goalkeeper after victory

Manchester City has ‘sincerely apologised’ to Aston Villa after fans attacked goalkeeper Robin Olsen post-game

Aston Villa goalkeeper Robin Olsen was “assaulted” on the pitch post-game when fans flocked to the field after the victory.

One TV broadcast shows one or more spectators making contact with the goalkeeper’s head, as he was escorted off the field.

Aston Villa’s manager was questioned if his players were safely escorted after the game, where he replied “No is the answer to that, my goalkeeper was attacked”

Olsen also spoke out about the assault that occurred on the pitch invasion at full time. 

“Those idiots who attacked me will not destroy my emotions of todays game”

Manchester City has formally apologised to Olsen, and the club has launched an immediate investigation.

The individual or individuals will be indefinitely banned from the stadium once identified.
