A right-wing January 6 Capitol Rioter has been sentenced to 87 months in prison

A rioter who took a gun to storm the U.S. Capitol and threaten Nancy Pelosi, has been sentenced to 87 months in prison.

Guy Reffitt is the first defendant from the day to go to trial, with his own son the one to tip off the FBI about his dad’s involvement.

“He said ‘if you turn me in, you’re a traitor…And traitors get shot'”.

Reffitt is a leader for a ring wing militia group known as Three Percenters. He now holds 5 charges, including transport of a firearm.

The Donald Trump fan from Texas will now spend more than 7 years in prison, which is the longest insurrection-related sentence to date.

“Mr. Reffitt’s reluctance to admit early that his behaviour is illegal is concerning…And I want to be very clear … under no legitimate definition of the term ‘patriot’ (does) Mr. Reffitt’s behaviour on and around January 6 fit the term. It is the antithesis of the word.”

Reffitt did not enter the Capitol building on January 6, he was stopped by police force on the outskirts of the building.

However, he was caught on video leading rioters toward the Capitol in an aggressive manner, while holding a weapon.

However, Reffitt’s daughters are now calling for life punishment for the former U.S. President.

“My father’s name wasn’t on the flags everyone was carrying that day.

“It was another man’s name.”
