Military officers in Mali have detained the president, prime minster and defence minster of the interim government on Monday.

The moved has deepened political chaos just months after military coup ousted the president, sources told Reuters.

The detention cam hours after a government reshuffle left out two soldiers who led the coup in August last year.

In a joint statement the UN and Au called for the immediate and unconditional release of all individuals.
