Major European drug cartel torn to shreds

A super drug cartel that controlled around a third of Europe’s cocaine supplies has been torn apart

49 people were arrested in relation to Operation Desert Light across six countries in Europe.

A British national is believed to be behind the operation, which seized more than 30 tonnes of drugs.

It saw authorities in Spain, France, the Netherlands and other countries come together to bring down the operation across a two year period.

It’s the latest in a string of effort to hack encrypted messaging apps that are used to organise these crimes and launder money.

The agency in charge of the sting, Europol says the scale of the operation is “massive”.
