Louisville’s Police Department releases dramatic bodycam footage from moment officers responded to bank shooting
Louisville’s Metro Police Department has released dramatic bodycam footage from the moment officers responded to Monday’s bank shooting.
The video shows the tense exchange between police officers and the shooter, Connor Sturgeon.
It begins with Officer Nickolas Wilt driving up to the scene with his training officer.
Police say Wilt was shot in the head as he ran toward the gunshots and he now remains in a critical condition.
The video cuts off before he is shot.
Another officer who was shot is shown taking fire, then retreating to a safe position behind a planter.
“Shooter has an angle on that officer!” one officer can be heard saying. “We got to get up there!” he adds.
Deputy Chief Paul Humphrey says the gunman broke the lobby windows and when he fired, officers shot back.
The deadly mass shooting killed 5 people and left 8 others injured.
