The U.S. could fail to make a repayment on what it owes, by June 1

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre is imploring Congress to come together and sort out the looming debt default.

The U.S. could fail to make a repayment on what it owes, by June 1, which would see it default on loans and not be able to pay federal workers.

The Press Secretary says the damage has been done to the nation’s credit card, and now is the time to pay it back.

“If you buy a car, you are expected to pay the monthly payment. If you buy a home, you are expected to pay the mortgage every month. That is the expectation,” she said.

“We’re saying to them, do your job. Pay for something you already spent on… They need to do the right thing,” she said. “It is the right thing to do, it is their constitutional duty, it is not complicated at all.”
