Joe Biden rejects Donald Trump’s White House visitor log request

Current U.S. President Biden has rejected former President Donald Trump’s request to have White House visitor logs shielded from the January 6 Capitol Riots committee.

In a letter to the National Archives, White House counsel says Biden believes using executive privilege “is not in the best interests of the United States”.

The National Archives provided the President’s office with a whole host of documents for review earlier this year.

These included “visitor logs showing appointment information for individuals who were processed to enter the White House complex, including on January 6”.

During the Trump Administration, such documents were kept hidden from the public eye out of “national security concerns”

However, the Biden Administration opts to disclose the logs on a monthly basis, as did the Obama Administration.

The National Archives has now sent a letter to Trump, informing him they will disclose presidential records to the select committee.
