Jan 6 Committee takes aim at fellow lawmaker

The committee investigating the January 6 Capitol riot has shifted its attention to a fellow lawmaker, alleging Republican Barry Louder-milk gave a building tour to a rioter just a day prior to the attack

In newly released footage, Louder-milk is shown giving the unnamed soon-to-be rioter a tour of the Capitol building, with this man in question taking pictures of tunnels and security checkpoints.

In a seperate video, this man is later seen threatening Democrats as he arrived at the Capitol on January 6.

But Louder-milk’s office is accusing the committee of conducting a “smear campaign”… saying the tour group was not at all suspicious.

This letter alleges the tour group did not visit any tunnels and there is also no evidence the Republican lawmaker entered the Capitol with them during their visit.

But committee chairperson Bennie Thompson says the behaviour of the group remains questionable because they photographed security checkpoints and other private areas.

This latest day in the hearings further highlights the divide and increasing tension between the Democratic-led committee and many Republicans.

The committee will hold at least six public hearings this month following a nearly year-long investigation.
