Tensions between Israel and Hezbollah are escalating as Israel launches a limited ground invasion into southern Lebanon.

This development follows ongoing border skirmishes, raising concerns of a broader conflict in the region.

U.S. officials have warned that the situation could spiral into a larger confrontation if Hezbollah escalates its actions.

After confirmation of an imminent Israeli invasion, the Pentagon told reporters that it is sending a “few thousand” more troops to the Middle East to augment U.S. forces already there on heightened alert.

The move comes just one day after President Joe Biden said he would not deploy more troops to the region.
