Plenty has been said about protecting children from online content but less has been made about protecting the kids making that content. So what is Illinois doing about it?

Much like the TV child stars from years past, kids are now making serious money on social media.

And while much of the conversation has been about protecting children from harmful content online, Illinois has become the first state in the U.S. to pass laws to ensure child social media influencers are compensated for their work.

That includes giving kids the ability to sue their parents for stealing their profits.

Now this law, which covers content creators under the age of 16, was brought to the attention of the lawmaker behind it by a young person under that age as well.
