Germany could become the next nation to ban Chinese components being used in the country’s 5G Network.

The nation’s Interior Minister says the communications networks need to be protected.

Germany has been considering banning certain components from Chinese companies Huawei and ZTE in its telecoms networks, to address security concerns.

Concerns have been risen because of the company’s close links to Beijing’s security services, which could give Chinese spies access to essential infrastructure.

“We have to protect our communication networks. This is especially true for our critical infrastructure,” German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser said.
