Fresh safety concerns raised over airline passenger seats

A U.S. court is hearing a case about the dimensions of passenger seats

A flyer’s advocacy group wants the Federal Aviation Administration to list seat dimensions on passenger planes.

It follows a 2018 ruling where Congress urged the Administration to create requirements for seats on board commercials jets.

These include seat pitch, width, and length for the safety of passengers.

The average seat pitch for economy class passenger is around 30 inches, which is raising eyebrows among some consumer groups.

There aren’t any rules about seat requirements, but airlines must be able to evacuate passengers within 90 seconds if needed.
