Young children to be vaccinated against COVID-19 as early as next month

The American Food and Drug Administration has voted to allow the Pfizer BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine for children between the ages of 5 to 11.

The vaccines will be available for emergency authorisation within the next few weeks.

Previous trial data showed that the jab was safe for children in that age group.

This will mean 28 million U-S children will be eligible for the vaccine.
