FBI finds no link between New Orleans truck attack and Las Vegas Tesla explosion, identifies driver as Army soldier Matthew Livelsberger.

The FBI announced on Thursday that there is currently no definitive link between the New Year’s Day truck attack in New Orleans, which resulted in 15 deaths, and an incident involving a Tesla Cybertruck that exploded in Las Vegas, claiming the life of the driver.

The explosion occurred outside the Trump International Hotel, leaving the sole occupant of the truck deceased and injuring seven others, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Authorities have identified the driver of the Tesla Cybertruck as Matthew Livelsberger, who was an active-duty U.S. Army soldier at the time of his death. The FBI confirmed the identity but withheld further details for now.

Livelsberger was assigned to the U.S. Army Special Operations Command and was on authorised leave when the explosion occurred. The Army has chosen not to comment on the ongoing investigation.

His military service includes active duty from January 2006 to March 2011 and subsequent service in the National Guard and Army Reserve. He returned to active duty in December 2012 as a Special Operations Soldier. Livelsberger reportedly has no criminal record and has been associated with addresses in Colorado Springs since 2013.

The Tesla Cybertruck was rented from Colorado. Following the explosion, local and federal authorities conducted a search at a residential address in Colorado Springs as part of their inquiry into the incident.
