Deadly shooting at California Church marks grim mass shooting milestone

Multiple people have been hit during a shooting at a church in California

It’s 19 weeks into the year and America has already seen almost 200 mass shootings.

This is the 5th major shooting this weekend alone, ramping up the debate of gun control in the U.S.

Authorities have confirmed one person is dead and 4 in a critical condition at a church in Southern California.

This all happened at the Geneva Presbyterian Church in the city of Laguna Woods.

A fifth injured person suffered minor injuries, and local police say All the victims were adults.

The area is known to be popular with retired people, it was built as a senior living community and later became a city.

The local governor says “No one should have to fear going to their place of worship.”

The shooting took place where there’s a cluster of houses of worship, including Catholic, Lutheran and a Jewish synagogue.

Americans are still processing the aftermath of an 18-year-old man shooting and killing innocent people attending a local grocery store in New York.

At this stage the motive of the gunman is unknown but a suspect is in custody and a weapon has been recovered.
