China’s COVID restrictions will slow iPhone 14 Pro shipments

Apple says it will ship fewer smartphones because of COVID-19 restrictions at its major plant in Zhengzhou, China

The move will have a significant impact on Apple’s quarterly sales and make it harder for consumers to get their hands on Apple’s high-end models.

But Apple is seeing strong demand for the new models – so when can you expect them?

Currently, the Apple Online Store is quoting 4 week delivery estimates for most iPhone 14 Pro configurations (this is for the U.S.)

In a rare Sunday press release Apple says expect shipments to take longer.

“We now expect lower iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max shipments than we previously anticipated,” citing Covid restrictions affecting production at a supplier’s assembly plant in Zhengzhou, China.

Foxconn warned Monday local time that the Covid disruptions will hit Q4 earnings.

COVID-19 has impacted iPhone supply chain on and off for the last two years but Apple says its working closely with its supplier to return to normal production levels.
