Russian football teams will remain banned from European competitions after the Court of Arbitration for Sport upheld a decision by governing body UEFA

The UEFA ban has already seen Spartak Moscow be pulled from the Europa League, with opponents RB Leipzig automatically progressing to the quarter-finals.

The decision could also be applied to FIFA, but this case is being treated separately by CAS, with the Russian Football Federation filing an appeal.

As it stands, the Russian Men’s National Football Team will not be able to play Poland in a World Cup Qualifier on March 24, with FIFA awarding the Red and Whites a bye to advance to the play-off final.

Poland will meet either Sweden or the Czech republic for a spot at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

There were also Under 21 and youth national teams for both Russian men and women, which were scheduled to be played in the coming weeks, which have been cancelled.
