Court delays release of Trump’s Jan. 6 riot records

A federal court has approved Donald Trump’s request to pause the release of classified documents to the House Select Committee that is investigating the January 6 Capitol riots

This follows Trump asking the court to temporarily block the records while he appeals a lower court’s claim that executive privilege can’t be relied upon by the former president.

This filing is a last-minute attempt by Trump to prevent the Select Committee from relieving 46 records, including White House call logs, visitor logs and speech drafts.

More than 700 documents in total will be turned over the National Archives to the committee in the coming weeks.
