Australia’s young indigenous community has come together to honour Cassius Turvey

*A warning the following story contains information about a deceased person, Cassius Turvey.

The 15-year-old schoolboy died after he was allegedly bashed when walking home from school.

It’s sparked an outpouring of grief around the country, as Indigenous leaders fear for their own loved ones.

Turvey’s mother has thanked Prime Minister Anthony Albanese for condemning the attack.

The Prime Minister says the alleged murder was racially motivated.

The 21-year-old alleged perpetrator has been charged with murder and is facing two more charges relating to aggravated assault and stealing.

I can’t sleep thinking about Cassius Turvey and his short life being taken away by a racially motivated attack, this is not the days of Marshall law folks where Aboriginal people were shot for stealing sheep, this is 2022 FFS! Cassius Turvey never made it home from school.

Just 15 years old, he was allegedly targeted by someone who shouted racial slurs, told him to run, and then brutally beat him with a metal pole.
