Despite China’s increasing economic and geopolitical issues, leader Xi Jinping is pushing for another term at the top job

At the upcoming  20th National Congress, President Xi is expected to hold onto authority.

This means the Communist Party leader would remain as President for another 5 years.

The move has never been done before by a Chinese leader. However, comes as no surprise because it was Xi that scrapped the presidential term limits. This has made his road to power an unchallenged breeze.

However, the move comes amid rising tensions in China as Covid cases surge, businesses crumble and international tensions boil over.

China continues to strive for it zero-covid policy, despite the rest of the world learning to live with the virus. Recent outbreaks in the country have forced millions of its residents into lengthy lockdowns.

Economically, businesses are struggling to survive off the back of the prolonged lockdowns. The people of China are beginning the struggle with the cost of living, unable to enjoy the normal pleasures of life in the country.

More broadly, tensions in Taiwan and China’s mission to reunify the region have caused geopolitical tensions.

The past few months have been anything but smooth sailing for President Xi, although the chaos has not dampened his mission to remain in power.

American home prices are rising at faster pace now than in the last 20-years.

A recent analysis reveals a jaw dropping surge in the cost of American homes.

Since the start of 2020, U.S. home prices have surged 47% easily outstripping the gains seen in recent decades.

On top of that, home price growth so far this decade is on the verge of surpassing all the growth seen in the 2000s.

Many experts believe this decade’s housing market frenzy was ignited by a perfect storm — the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic triggering an unprecedented rush among buyers.

Tom Hutchens, the Executive Vice President of Production at Angel Oak Mortgage Solutions joins Veronica Dudo to discuss.
