Police are investigating after $20m of ‘high-value’ cargo was stolen from Toronto airport

Police are on the hunt for thieves who stole millions of dollars worth of gold.

Canada’s police force is investigating a gold heist at the nation’s busiest airport.

Officials say almost 18 million dollars worth of gold and other valuables were stolen – while it was being moved through the airport.

The Gold was snatched from Pearson International Airport, just outside Toronto.

The airport usually receives the gold that is mined in Canada, and ships it out worldwide.

Police say an aircraft landed at the airport on the evening of April 17.

The cargo was transported to a holding facility but then removed.

Peel Regional Police inspector Stephen Duivesteyn says their team is investigating “all avenues” and described the incident as “isolated” and “rare”. #trending #featured
