Breakthrough in Ukraine accessing German tanks

There’s finally been a breakthrough in Kyiv’s request for Leopard 2 tanks

Germany’s foreign minister Annalena Baerbock said she “would not stand in the way” of Poland if they were to send Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine — but they had yet to formally ask.

Poland is one of several nations – including Finland, Slovakia, Sweden and the Netherlands – that ave expressed interest in sending these tanks, which are considered ‘heavy’ artillery.

They’re high on Ukraine’s wishlist because they were specifically designed to compete with the Russian T90 tanks, which are being used in the invasion.

Poland confirmed it would formally send a request to export some of these tanks.

Moscow is not happy with the news.

They’ve warned for weeks that it could be seen as an escalation from the west – and could provoke a more direct response.
