Apple users – you might be in for a giant payday

If you’re an Apple user with a MacBook, you may be in for a payday, after the tech giant agreed to provide compensation for faulty keyboards

Customers in seven U.S. states claim Apple sold “butterfly” keyboards, on MacBook, MacBook Air and MacBook Pro laptops, from 2015 to 2019, while knowing they were not up to scratch.

Consumers say the keyboards have unresponsive and sticky keys which can be easily damaged by dust or debris.

Apple has denied any wrongdoing, but has agreed to pay 50 million in compensation.

This means customers could receive $395 if they replaced multiple keyboards, $125, if they replaced one and $50 for those who replaced key caps.

Apple’s butterfly keyboards are 40% thinner, and the company says they were used so its laptops could be slimmer.
