Amber Heard has two personality disorders, psychologist says in court

Forensic psychologist reveals Amber Heard’s personality disorder diagnoses, as the defamation case with Johnny Depp continues in the courts of Virginia

Johnny Depp’s witness, Shannon Curry says she diagnosed Amber Heard with borderline personality disorder and histrionic personality disorder after multiple psychological assessments and 12 hours of interviews with Heard.

Curry is a licensed clinical psychologist who was hired by Depp’s team in 2021.

Curry says people with borderline personality disorders can often “explode and react” over things they might read into and exaggerate in their minds to be an offence.

She also says people with this disorder are “driven by an underlying fear of abandonment” and will go to desperate measures to prevent that from happening.

Curry calls borderline personality disorder a “predictive factor for women who implement violence against their partner”.

Depp’s councils’ hopes this will support their claim that Heard was the perpetrator of violence in the relationship, not Depp.

While calling borderline personality a disease of instability, Curry says histrionic personality is “two sides of a same coin”.

She claims people with histrionic personality tend to victimise themselves or make up stories to be the centre of attention.

In a cross-examination of Curry’s claims, Heard’s council questioned her on having dinner and drinks with Depp and his legal team before being hired but Curry says she was being interviewed.

Heard has previously said she suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) which Curry also denies, saying Heard exaggerated PTSD claims.

The libel lawsuit is set to continue in the courts of Virginia where Depp is suing Heard for $50 million for an article she wrote in Washington Post claiming to be a victim of domestic abuse.

The actor denies the allegations, while Heard is counter-suing for $100 million.
