All I Want For Christmas is to not be sued

It’s the song many of us consider to be the jingle of Christmas, but now Mariah Carey is being sued for her classic hit

Musician Andy Stone claims he actually co-wrote and recorded a tune of the same name back in 1989.

Carey’s ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ has earned the star an estimated U.S. 60 million dollars in royalties, with Andy Stone seeking 20 million in compensation.

The lawsuit has been filed in Louisiana, stating Carey and her co-writer “knowingly, wilfully, and intentionally engaged in a campaign to infringe” copyright.

All I Want For Christmas is undoubtedly one of the most successful music singles of all time.

It continues to top the charts in more than two dozen countries, with considerable airtime every Christmas.

Also featuring in the 2003 Christmas-themed romantic comedy film Love Actually, the song has sold an estimated 16 million copies worldwide.
