US President Joe Biden is set to meet with Russia’s President Vladimir Putin next month in Geneva

According to the White House, President Biden and Putin will meet in Geneva to discuss a range of issues.

As Ticker’s International Correspondent Jackson Williams reports, the US is wanting a more “stable, predictable relationship” with Russia.

In a recent press statement, the White House said they will speak about a “full range of pressing issues, as they seek to restore predictability and stability to the US-Russia relationship.”

It comes as the Biden administration called out Putin on allegations that his government interfered with last year’s election.

Tensions have also been high after Putin arrested and jailed Russia’s opposition leader Alexi Navalny earlier this year.

Doctor Alexey Muraviev from Curtin University joined tickerNEWS to discuss what’s on Putin’s agenda with Biden.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki says the two parties are meeting because of the two countries’ differences, not in spite of them.

Crude oil surges 7% amid fears of Middle East conflict; Strait of Hormuz disruptions may push Brent over $100.

Crude oil prices spiked dramatically as investors react to the growing risk of a wider conflict in the Middle East. U.S. crude surged 7.2 percent, trading near $71.84 a barrel, signalling heightened concern across energy markets.

The Strait of Hormuz, a critical shipping chokepoint, has come under intense scrutiny. Rising war-risk insurance premiums and suspended tanker traffic are already slowing the movement of oil, creating ripple effects in global supply chains.

JPMorgan has warned that prolonged disruptions over three weeks could force Gulf producers to reduce output, potentially pushing Brent crude prices to between $100 and $120 a barrel. Markets are closely watching for developments that could reshape global energy pricing.
