The U.S. Senate has united, moving closer towards a legislation to combat the mass shootings happening across the country

About 12 lawmakers are working together to develop a plan to improve school security and to keep guns away from criminals and those considered to be a danger to society.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer insists the group is making “good progress” with an agreement to be reached “Very soon”.

Democratic senator Chris Murphy leads the group and says he aims to pass legislation before the Senate breaks for the July 4 holiday.

This all follows recent mass shootings in Buffalo, New York; Uvalde, Texas; Tulsa, Oklahoma; and elsewhere.
