WATCH – Biden says China is ‘flirting with danger’

U.S President Joe Biden says China is “flirting with danger” over Taiwan

Biden made the remarks with Japanese counter-part, Fumio Kishida in Tokyo.

He also added that U.S. would help defend Taiwan from a Chinese invasion.

“We agreed with the One China policy, we signed on to it… but the idea that it can be taken by force is just not appropriate”, he says.

The two nations, alongside 13 other allies will launch the “Indo-Pacific Economic Framework”, in a bid to counter China’s growth in the region.

The pair also say they will monitor Chinese naval activity, and Chinese military exercises with Russia.

Prime Minister Kishida is also urging the U.S to return to the Trans-Pacific Partnership, which Former President Trump had withdrawn from.

Meanwhile, Biden says he is “considering” lifting some trade tariffs on China.

It comes as the two leaders prepare to meet with their Quad Allies, Australia and India.

Ticker News spoke with Walter Sim from The Straits Times about the key priorities for leaders.
