Two more top security officials have been fired by Kazakhstan’s president as the nation suffers through its worst civil unrest in decades

At least 164 people have now died as a result of violent anti-government protests… with thousands more detained by authorities.

The nation’s president has issued shoot-to-kill orders to end the violence, and blames the unfolding situation on bandits and terrorists.

No single group has come forward to claim responsibility for the demonstrations and clashes, which began over a fuel price rise, before erupting into a wider protest against the nation’s government.

At the president’s order, a Russia-led alliance of ex-Soviet states sent troops to restore order.

The European Union has made clear it “strongly condemns” the widespread acts of violence.

This of course all comes as tensions between Russia and the U.S. remain dangerously high.
