YouTube dumps dislike button in major move by video platform

YouTube has announced that it will be making its dislike buttons private across all of its videos

This means that when users click onto the dislike button they will no longer be able to see how many others have done the same.

The change was inspired by an experiment conducted by the company, that showed that people are less likely to pile on dislikes when the count is removed.

Small channels were often targeted in mass dislikes and this move will remove a common tool used by online trolls.

Users will still be able to view the amount of dislikes on their own videos through the YouTube studio dashboard.

The removal is gradually being rolled out this week.
