Australia’s second largest city is set to enjoy further freedoms following an easing of restrictions

Melbourne and the rest of Victoria will welcome in a whole new bunch of freedoms today as the state reaches its 80 percent double dose vaccination milestone.

From 6pm Friday local time, the border between regional Victoria and the city of Melbourne will be dropped.

Melbourne has been cut off from the rest of the state since early August in what was originally poised to be a 7-day lockdown, but stretched for more than 70 days.

Just last week, the city’s strict lockdown was lifted following the 70 percent double dose vaccine target being met.

Meanwhile, several other restrictions are also being eased with gyms and non-essential retail opening up with density limits, caps on patrons within hospitality venues increased and face masks no longer mandatory outside.

Traffic is also likely to be heavy across Melbourne on Friday evening as residents depart for the country with tourism and hospitality operators thrilled for an influx of customers.

American home prices are rising at faster pace now than in the last 20-years.

A recent analysis reveals a jaw dropping surge in the cost of American homes.

Since the start of 2020, U.S. home prices have surged 47% easily outstripping the gains seen in recent decades.

On top of that, home price growth so far this decade is on the verge of surpassing all the growth seen in the 2000s.

Many experts believe this decade’s housing market frenzy was ignited by a perfect storm — the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic triggering an unprecedented rush among buyers.

Tom Hutchens, the Executive Vice President of Production at Angel Oak Mortgage Solutions joins Veronica Dudo to discuss.
