Winter snowstorm causes chaos across eastern U.S. and Canda

A snowstorm is causing havoc across the East Coast of the United States reaching up to Canada

Over 4,200 flights have either been cancelled or delayed as a result of the blizzard with airlines now scrambling to rebook impacted travellers, with many stranded at airports.

Motorists have been seen struggling to commute through the blizzard, with a police officer revealing the 405 freeway was near empty with just some vehicles on the generally busy stretch of road, which were stuck.

Traffic was at an almost stand-still in Toronto as the snowstorm brought visibility to near zero.

It also shut subway lines and left motorists stuck on local highways for hours.

The region was predicted to get up to 2 feet of snow, and an extreme weather warning has been in place.

Authorities continue to ask residents to stay off the roads, with multiple road accidents occurring as a result of the blizzard and low visibility.

The snowstorm has also seen an interruption medical services, with COVID vaccination clinics forced to close.

A major cleanup is now underway.
