After reopening its verification program last week, Twitter has hit a pause on the process after requests began flooding in.
The social media giant says the pause is only temporary, as it works through its backlog of requests.
The verification process was shut down in 2017 amid controversy in relation to what the symbol represented.
But this time, Twitter says the famous blue tick will only be handed out to “notable, authentic, and active” users on the platform.
Many users have taken to the platform to express their frustration with the pause.
