A famous painting from 1860 has left the internet very confused

People are asking why the woman in the artwork is holding something, which looks like a smartphone.

The piece is known as ‘The Expected One’ and was painted by an Australian artist.

As the woman walks down a path, she can be seen bending her neck and reading off something that looks like a smartphone device.

Of course, phones as we know them didn’t land in our hands for another 147 years.

Some online users believe the woman could be a time traveller, while others want to know how she ended up with an iPhone.
