A 48-year-old has just climbed Mount Everest for the 10th time
The Nepalese single mother, Lhakpa Sherpa was born in a cave, has had no formal education and worked as a cleaner.
She says it was a dream to climb the world’s tallest mountain for the first time. But is proud to have changed Sherpa-culture since then.
During her first few expeditions, she used to plant the Nepalese flag at the summit. This time was a little different though, she was carrying the U.S. flag.
Lhakpa Sherpa now lives in the U.S. state of Connecticut with their two daughters and has a son from a previous relationship.
