Watch out Apple, Google wants in on the smart watch craze too

Google has unveiled its first smartwatch, ramping up the competition between Android and Apple

Fitbit was acquired by Google for over 2 billion back in 2019 and now the pair have teamed up for its new smart accessory.

The Google Pixel Watch combines its own Wear operating system with Fitbit health tracking.

The watch can be paired with Android devices only and is 4G-compatible, which means it can function on its own without being near a phone – just like apple watch.

NEW SMARTWATCH

The tech giant did not reveal a price for the wearable, but it said would be a “premium product” when it launches soon.

It faces fierce competition from the likes of Apple and Samsung, which are already market leaders in smartwatches.

You may think google is already in the watch game, with many third party Android watches running on Google’s Wear operating system

But this is googles own device, that Google’s senior VP of devices says is a unique product that combines “Google’s ecosystem and Fitbit expertise”
