Vladimir Putin threatened Boris Johnson with a missile strike

Putin made the threat during a phone call with the former British PM

Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has revealed explosive details about a call he had with Russia’s Vladimir Putin few days before the war in Ukraine began.

Putin’s call to Downing Street came just 24 hours after Johnson met with Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv.

During the chat, Johnson says he warned Putin invading Ukraine would only lead to Western sanctions and further Nato troops in eastern Europe.

Johnson said: “He threatened me at one point, and he said, ‘Boris, I don’t want to hurt you but, with a missile, it would only take a minute’ or something like that. Jolly.

“But I think from the very relaxed tone that he was taking, the sort of air of detachment that he seemed to have, he was just playing along with my attempts to get him to negotiate.”

Nine days later, on February 11, the UK’s Defence Secretary Ben Wallace flew to Moscow to meet with his Russian counterpart.

While Wallace says he left with assurances Russia wouldn’t invade Ukraine, he knew this was a lie.

Less than two weeks later, tanks rolled over the border. #trending #featured
