The 2026 Commonwealth Games was going to be a little unusual due to the decision to host a great deal of the games in Victoria’s regions.
While that’s obviously a great idea of bringing some much needed cash into the regions, it also contributed to driving up the costs.
And costs were the main reason for cancellation. Here’s Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews announcing the decision.
