US Unveils 6th-Gen Fighter Jet

Published

on

The US Air force recently revealed that the sixth-generation fighter jet has entered the development stage

This means the airforce has initiated the process of engineering and manufacturing one of -if not the most powerful fighter jet ever.

No details have emerged about what it will look like or its features, due to it being classified.

But there has been a lot of speculation amongst defense analysts.

The only facts we have from the US Air force about the next-generation fighter is that they will include new weapons, sensor systems, and a number of drones accompanying the aircraft on missions.

And they’re expected to be ready by 2030.

The sixth-generation fighter will become one of the core weapons of the Air Force’s Next Generation Air Dominance or NGAD systems.

The US Air force announced plans for the new fighter jet in 2020 saying it intends to build a prototype.

Despite reports of progress on the program, the aircraft manufacturer is yet to be announced.

Speaking to the Defence Post, Aerospace analyst Richard Aboulafia says that the main contenders are Lockheed Martin, Boeing, and Northrop Grumman.

Hopefully we’ll be provided with more information in the coming months about the new fighter jet program.

Until then, we can only speculate what the US Airforce is developing.
