The United States has stepped up its campaign against corruption in Cambodia, by blacklisting two government officials

The United States has issued an advisory to businesses and accused others of profiting from construction at the nation’s biggest naval base.

The advisory targets firms doing business in Cambodia “to be mindful of interactions with entities in corrupt business practices”.

The United States Trade Office will also review Cambodia’s trade benefits for developing countries once Congress reauthorises the program.

Cambodia has moved closer to China, at a time when Washington is seeking to counter Beijing’s growing influence in the region
