The US Supreme Court has agreed to hear a challenge regarding restrictions on carrying firearms outside the home.

Justices have moved to hear the claim, brought forward by two gun owners and a New York affiliate of the National Rifle Association (NRA).

The applicants are seeking to challenge a denial by their state to carry concealed weapons for self-defense.

This case is significant because it is the first time the predominantly conservative court will rule over the nation’s hotly debated stance on gun control and gun reform.
