Understanding 2FA and MFA: Essential security measures against cyber attacks to protect your online accounts.

In this episode of Ticker Clicks, cyber security expert Jacqueline Jayne explains why Two-factor authentication (2FA) and multi-factor authentication (MFA) are important security measures to protect online accounts.

Even if a hacker has your password, 2FA provides an additional layer of security.

There are three main components of authentication: something you know, something you have, and something you are.

Single-factor authentication typically involves just a username and password.

2FA adds an extra step by requiring a constantly changing six-digit code, which can be received via SMS, email, or a third-party app.

MFA requires multiple forms of verification, such as a password and a physical device, enhancing security further.

Despite the benefits, only 35% of small to medium-sized businesses globally employ 2FA or MFA.
