Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has commented on the devastation on the country’s eastern region of Donbas.

He says Russian forces have completely destroyed Donbas – describing the area as “hell.”

The Kremlin has focused its latest offensive on the Donbas region with hopes to take full control.

British intelligence expects Moscow to quickly redeploy forces to Donbas once the strategically important port city of Mariupol has been secured.

The UK says Russian commanders are under pressure to quickly make gains elsewhere. They say currently Moscow is risking redeploying troops to areas of Ukraine without adequate preparation.

Meanwhile as surrounding countries Finland and Sweden hope to join the NATO alliance, U.S. President Joe Biden those countries have “full backing” in their bids to become members.
