Ukrainian commander pleads with Elon Musk, requesting help in Mariupol amid ongoing war

A Ukrainian commander is asking billionaire Elon Musk for support, to help trapped civilians in Mariupol.

Evacuation efforts continue in the besieged city as Russian forces remain in control.

The war has devastated the strategic port city, where Ukrainians have experienced a pocket of resistance from a steelworks factory.

The military commander says the sole purpose of reaching out to Musk to help people believe in the impossible.

In a tweet, the commander says “our planets are next to each other, as I live where it is nearly impossible to survive.”

As the war continues, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is promising to back Sweden and Finland with whatever they request if they ever come under attack.

The PM signed a mutual defence agreement with both countries as both appear likely to become that latest members of NATO.
